      Transfer Portal

      'Tis the season.

Many names will start surfacing in the next 24-48 hours.

The Clarion WR picked up a Duquesne offer so far. He visited Toldedo but not sure they offered.

I have no reason to believe this but I am seriously worried that the VULCANS FR kicker Anthony Beitko out of McKeesport may get poached by a D1 team. Leading scorer and kicker in the league with 16-17 FG made( that miss may be the block in the BORO game) and 39-40 PATS. Given that those skills are directly transferable to any program, the possibility of an FCS/FBS school with a kicking problem stepping up and offering a full ride seems well within the realm of possibility. Might be an incentive for Coach Dunn to get ahead of the curve and sweeten his deal.

If he's not better than Andre Reed, then he should stay in the PSAC

Unless he enters the portal, schools cannot contact him. Obviously that likely does happen, however, in the covert world of recruiting.

Heard from a couple individuals at Bloomsburg, that QB Leiby is going to get his masters elsewhere and hitting the portal. Big loss for the huskies. Still had 2 years of eligibility remaining

It seems to be getting less covert all the time. Call his HS coach, talk about what a shame it is he's not at XYZ UNIVERSITY who really needs a kicker and next thing you know the portal opens and out pops a proven kicker with a ton of potential. Don't know his home situation or education plans, but there's a lot of opportunities out there.

I wouldn't be all that concerned until he starts consistently hitting long FGs and gets better with touchbacks on KOs. Assumption lost their kicker to LSU in '18 because he had a big leg, hitting up to 53 yards, and was highly accurate on those long attempts.

His longest was 48 yds which I believe is the school record. I'm not even thinking so much of an LSU level program as much as a YSU, VILLANOVA or MARSHALL. I'd be thrilled if it never happens but he is pretty talented.

I think Ship's Jaxson Montross would be as much in demand. Already the best long-range kicker in school history, from what I can tell. He was the Big 33 kicker this year.

My guess they both have the potential to move on up and should have someone make some back channel contacts. Unlike the CLARION WR (name please) who entered the portal and is now tracking interest, I'd suggest having some pretty clear intended target schools before making the leap.

This year, it appears as if Shepherd really benefited from the portal so I have a feeling they will be actively looking again and have some looking to transfer looking at them - especially WRs who want to play their last year with Bagent.

Shepherd has got a big senior/graduate class leaving. Rams are losing almost the entire Defense (3 on DL, both MLB, Both safeties and at least 1 or 2 corners that played). Might only have 2 returning starters next year for defense. Offense loses majority of the WR's but Beach is back. Running back should be fine. OL loses 2 or 3 as well. Going to be an interesting offseason as new players will need to step up.

                                        FAQs

Can you see who is in the transfer portal? ›

The transfer portal is an NCAA database in which players who have opted to transfer are listed. Those with access to the portal include coaches, athletic administrators and compliance officials.

What happens if you enter transfer portal and don t get picked up? ›

Entering the transfer portal does not automatically mean you will be picked up by another school that semester. If you cannot transfer in the same semester you enter the portal, you need to be ready to cover the cost of tuition without your athletic scholarship, should it be reassigned to another teammate.

Do you lose your scholarship if you enter the transfer portal? ›

According to the NCAA, once a student-athlete enters the transfer portal, their current institution has the ability to cancel or reduce their scholarship for the upcoming academic year. This means that a student-athlete may indeed lose their scholarship if they decide to enter the transfer portal.

How many times can a kid enter the transfer portal? ›

The legislation will not limit the number of times an athlete can transfer -- and there are still two transfer windows -- but they can't transfer midyear and play for a second school in the same season.

Can the public access the transfer portal? ›

But with the advent of the Transfer Portal, interest in the process behind approving transfers has intensified — partly because the idea of a new digital tool for managing it is intriguing, and partly because the media and the public don't have access to the portal.

Can transfer portal players play immediately? ›

Entry into the Transfer Portal is required for Division I student-athletes to be recruited by other schools, but they still must meet other criteria and be academically eligible at their new school to compete immediately.

Will my coach know if I enter the transfer portal? ›

The compliance office can use the pdf feature to provide a transfer tracer to a coach. Coaches DO NOT have access to the MY TRANSFERS tab; therefore, they cannot see any of their institution's student-athletes entered in the transfer portal.

                                        What is the 4 2 4 transfer rule? ›

4-2-4 transfers need to have credits transfer in three ways: From the original four-year school to the two-year school in order to meet the two-year college's graduation requirements; From the two-year college to the new four-year school to meet the transferable credit requirements; and.

Can players back out of the transfer portal? ›

Can a player come back after they enter the transfer portal? By entering the portal, players give up their roster spot and scholarship. They can return to their current team only if the coach allows them to and there is an open roster spot.

Can a walk-on enter the transfer portal? ›

The NCAA still has scholarship limits — 85 in football, 13 in basketball, 18 in hockey, 12 in volleyball — and more players on rosters than players on scholarship. There are anecdotal examples of walk-ons entering the transfer portal looking for scholarship opportunities at other schools.

Can you transfer back to your old college in NCAA? ›

Now you want to transfer back to a four-year school to finally complete your degree. In this scenario, you can transfer without penalty. Even though it will be your second time playing for a four-year school, it will be your first time transferring to one.

How many times can a D1 player transfer? ›

The NCAA will no longer limit the amount of times that athletes can transfer schools. Previously, athletes were allowed to transfer one time and play immediately, but they had to sit out a full year if they transferred schools a second time without a waiver.

Can we transfer be tracked? ›

Because we don't track or store these emails, we can't share specific details on past transfers. The only way to track your past activity is by saving our up- and download confirmation emails yourself. Feel free to learn more about confirmation emails here.

How to access the NCAA Transfer Portal? ›

The portal isn't publicly accessible; rather, coaches and administrators have logins. Coaches usually have view-only access to the information, which they can filter by any of the database fields entered and export the information. Coaches are able to create a watch list in the portal.

Can you withdraw your name from the transfer portal? ›

The NCAA rules do allow for a player to remove their name from the transfer portal if they have not yet been contacted by other schools. This provision gives student-athletes the flexibility to reconsider their decision to transfer if they feel that remaining at their current institution is the best option for them.

How many players are in the transfer portal? ›

There are currently 3,843 names in the FBS transfer portal, per a source, which smashed the previous record of 3,502 set in the 2022-23 cycle. More than 1,200 of those names entered during this spring's 15-day window, injecting a jolt into college football midway through spring practice for many programs.
